Now accepting applications for Fall!

Apply today!

We are no longer accepting applications for the spring 2024 semester. If you will be a student for fall 2024, complete the application for fall at the link above.

Extended Opportunity Programs and Services (EOPS), Cooperative Resources Agencies for Education (CARE), and NextUp extend the opportunity to attend higher education to those from educationally and economically underserved backgrounds. EOPS was established to help community college students achieve their educational goals and transfer to a four-year institution.

At Mendocino College, EOPS aims to help you succeed in your educational goals. We provide educationally under-prepared and economically underserved students with the tools needed to get the most out of what college offers.

The EOPS Program enhances your educational success through academic counseling, textbook assistance, and various valuable support services.

As a team, the EOPS Staff offers guidance in a supportive atmosphere, promoting independence, self-esteem, and overall personal success.

How to Apply for EOPS/CARE/NextUP

Step 1: Students must do the following before the student's EOPS Application can be processed:

  • Submit an Admissions Application to the Admissions Office.

  • Activate your Mendocino College Student Issued Email Account. For information and assistance with your Student Email Account visit Admissions and Records.

  • Complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA must be completed online by going to https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa. Students who are AB540 should complete a Dream Act Application by going to https://dream.csac.ca.gov.

Attention: Students may submit transcripts from other colleges to get credit for courses they have already taken.  The advantage of submitting transcripts is that EOPS Counselors will be able to create a comprehensive Education Plan that will reflect the courses students have already completed. Unofficial copies printed from each of the college's website, may be submitted with the EOPS Application.

Step 2: Student submits an online EOPS Application.

  • The application link is above on this page.

Step 3:  The EOPS Office processes the student's EOPS Application and notifies the student whether or not the student is eligible. The student will be notified by email, and a notation will be made in the student's MyMendo account.

Step 4:  If the student is eligible, the student will be notified of the deadline for completing the following additional requirements:

  • enroll in 12 or more units (full-time)

  • attend an EOPS Orientation (dates & times for EOPS Orientations will be given to the student if the student is offered a spot in the EOPS program)
