Mendocino College Gallery is honored to present Doug Browe: A Lifetime in Clay, a retrospective exhibition celebrating the life, artistry, and enduring legacy of ceramic artist Doug Browe.
This special exhibition honors the life and work of Doug Browe, whose dedication to the ceramic arts spanned more than five decades. Featuring a diverse collection of functional pottery, sculptural works, and one-of-a-kind ceramic pieces, the exhibition offers visitors an opportunity to experience the depth, creativity, and craftsmanship that defined Browe's lifelong practice.
In celebration of the life of an inspiring member of our community, this exhibition showcases the wide range of ceramic work that Doug Browe created throughout more than 50 years of working in clay.
Doug Browe's work reflects a profound connection to the natural world, a mastery of form and surface, and an enduring commitment to the craft of ceramics. Throughout his career, he inspired fellow artists, students, friends, and collectors through both his artistic vision and his generous spirit. This exhibition serves as both a retrospective of his life's work and a tribute to the lasting impact he had on the regional arts community.
Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the evolution of Browe's artistic journey, from everyday functional vessels to expressive sculptural forms, each demonstrating his curiosity, technical skill, and passion for clay.

The gallery is also open for most performances in the Center Theater.
The Mendocino College Art Gallery, housed in the Center for Visual and Performing Arts (CVPA), celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2020. Since its inception in 1995, the gallery has made a significant contribution to the cultural life of Mendocino County, presenting more than 100 exhibitions during this time. Celebrating regional, national, and international artists as well as MC students, the gallery stays true to its educational role and provides students with an opportunity to learn firsthand about gallery management, exhibition design, and installation practices.
