In this madcap, fast-paced farce, a group of high society New Yorkers are plunged into a frantic cover-up.  Charley Brock, the Deputy Mayor of New York, and his wife Myra are celebrating their 10th wedding anniversary.  But when Ken and his wife Chris arrive to the party, they find that Charley’s been shot, Myra is nowhere to be found, and the house staff has disappeared.  As more and more guests arrive, each couple is caught in a web of impossible lies in an attempt to protect their hosts reputation and, by extension, their own…

Mendocino College is holding Auditions for the 19th Annual Festival of New Plays!   

Seeking actors of all ethnicities, ages, and backgrounds! 

Be a part of the 19th Annual Festival of New Plays!  EIGHT new plays by local playwrights directed by Mendocino College directing students and performed by ... YOU!

New to acting?  This festival is a great way to get involved and many of our Mendocino College actors got their start on the stage of the Little Theatre doing a new play for the Festival.


When:

Monday, April 6th at 6-9 PM
Tuesday, April 7th at 6-9 PM (Call-backs as needed)

Rehearsals start April 13th | Performances will be May 14th, 15th, 16th

Where:

Lowery Building, Rm 730

**Actors will be required to sign up for a 1 Unit class.  Scholarships are available.


To Audition...

IMPORTANT: We have a new audition policy for the Festival!  If you would like to audition, please email lverbrugghe@mendocino.edu and you will be given an appointment time.  We hope this streamlines the audition experience for everyone.   

If you are interested in auditioning, you can visit our AUDITION MATERIALS folder where you will find:

  • Summary of Plays including Playwright, Director, Synopsis, and Character Breakdown
  • Full Scripts of all the Plays
  • Audition Sides - Pick ONE to prepare for the Audition
  • Audition Form and Actor Agreement - fill out, sign and email to MCnewplayfest@gmail.com or simply bring with you to the audition.

INSTRUCTIONS: Read the Summary of Plays.  Choose a character you would like to audition for.  Pick ONE audition side for the character you would like to audition for and prepare it for the audition.  (I strongly recommend reading the entire play that your side is from.)  Fill out and sign the Audition Form and Actor Agreement and email to MCnewplayfest@gmail.com or simply bring them with you to the audition.  

NOTE: Auditioning for a certain role doesn't mean you will only be considered for that role.  You may be given other roles to read for at the audition.

Submissions are now closed!  Thank you to all the playwrights who submitted plays!  We received eighty-nine plays in total from over fifty playwrights. 

Semifinalists:  The committee loved your play but we didn’t find the right director/script match for it this year. We encourage you to resubmit next year!

Support the Mendocino College Theatre Arts Department!

The Tri-Tip “Drive-Up” Dinner will take place on May 17th, 2026 from 4-6pm.  Let us do the cooking!  Simply purchase a ticket then pick up your dinner on May 17th.

One ticket gets you a tri-tip dinner for FOUR.  The meal includes a 3lb marinated, grilled tri-tip roast from Forks Ranch Market, 4 baked potatoes, a green salad, 4 dinner rolls, and 4 cookies.

Tickets are $100 and can be purchased by scanning the QR code on this page or by clicking HERE.

All proceeds help provide scholarships for students in Acting, Technical Theatre, and Dance.

(A limited number of meals will be available to purchase for cash/check on May 17th.  To purchase a meal with cash/check go to the Agriculture parking lot on the Mendocino College Ukiah campus on May 17th between 4-6pm.  First come first served.)
