Thank you for your interest in the 36th Annual Latino Student Retreat, sponsored by Mendocino College. Last year, we had the pleasure of hosting over 250 of our local high school students. We are looking forward to hosting an even bigger group of your students this year.
The theme for this year’s event is Be The Voice. We are fortunate to have two speakers this year: Marimar Rosa Monge and our keynote speaker, Erika Cruz.
● Marimar Rosa Monge is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Therapist who works to empower, support, and heal the Latinx community especially as it pertains to breaking generational trauma caused by cultural barriers and gender expectations.
● Erika Cruz is a Coach, Speaker, and Founder of Courage Driven Latina. Erika left a six-figure tech job and created her own six-figure paying business. Erika’s work focuses on helping others become the best version of themselves.
Registration Process/Timeline & Workshops
Each student and chaperon who plans to attend will be required to complete an individual registration form indicating their preference for workshops. A copy of the paper registration form has been sent to you. Attendees may complete this paper registration form or register online using the QR code seen on the side. This year we have expanded our availability of workshops and have intentionally planned for several workshops that will be facilitated in Spanish or a bilingual manner. Please note that there is NO registration fee for this event. (Please note that the paper registration form is available in both English and Spanish, meanwhile the online registration form via the QR code will only be available in English).
Apart from the registration form, we ask that a Photo Release Form also be completed by each attendee. To make workshop assignments and t-shirt distribution as organized as possible, please submit your student registration forms to Juvenal Vasquez by Friday, April 12. Once we receive your registration forms, we will contact you to confirm attendance. We sincerely appreciate your assistance with this process. T-shirts and schedules will be handed out the day of the event, Friday, April 26th.
Day Of Event Information, Location, and Parking
On the day of the event, please drop off your students near the flag poles on the Mendocino College Ukiah campus. This area is located next to the main Student Services building, MacMillan Hall, and the Theater building.
All students will be asked to wear the event name badge throughout the Latino Student Retreat. Students without a name badge will not be allowed to participate in the activities and will be referred to their chaperone. This is for the safety and security of all students and attendees. Additionally, students will be provided a Latino Student Retreat event t-shirt. Students should wear the t-shirt during the event.
Please speak to your students ahead of time about proper conduct. Electronic handheld devices and cell phones are not to be brought to the event and can be left at school or on the bus. Traditionally, chaperones and volunteers play a major role in assisting with crowd control and helping to create a fun and welcoming atmosphere. For this reason, we ask that you attend the event presentation and workshops with your students. We will also have experienced college students assisting with workshops and chaperoning students.

Gracias pr su interés en el 36o Retiro Anual de Estudiantes Latinos, patrocinado por el Colegio de Mendocino. El año pasado, tuvimos el placer de recibir a más de 250 estudiantes de las escuelas secundarias locales. Esperamos poder recibir a un grupo aún más grande. Más sobre esto más adelante.
El tema del evento de este año es Ser la Voz. Tenemos la suerte de contar con dos oradoras este año: Marimar Rosa Monge y nuestra oradora principal, Erika Cruz.
● Marimar Rosa Monge es una terapeuta y trabajadora social clínica autorizada que trabaja para empoderar, apoyar y sanar a la comunidad Latina, especialmente en lo que respecta a romper el trauma generacional causado por la barreras culturales y las expectativas de género.
● Erika Cruz es entrenadora, oradora y fundadora de Latina Impulsada por el Coraje. Erika dejó un trabajo tecnológico de sies cifras y creó su propio negocio que ahora paga seis cifras. El trabajo de Erika se centra en ayudar a otros a confertirse en la mejor versión de sí mismos.
Proceso de Registro/Cronograma y Talleres
Cada estudiante y acompañante que planee asistir debera completar un formulario de inscripción individual indicado su preferencia por los talleres. Se le ha enviado una copia del formulario de registro en papel. Los asistentes pueden completar este formulario de registro en papel o registrarse en linea utilizando el código QR que se ve al lado. Este año hemos ampliado nuestra disponibilidad de talleres y hemos planeado varios talleres que se impartirán en español o de manera bilingüe. Tenga en cuenta que NO hay tarifa de inscripcion para este evento. (Tenga en cuenta que el formulario de registro en papel está disponible tanto en Inglés como en Español, mientras que el formulario de registro en línea a través del codigo QR solo estará disponible en Inglés). Además del formulario de inscripción, solicitamos que cada asistente también complete un formulario de autorización de fotografía. Para organizar las tareas del taller y la distribución de camisetas lo más organizada posible, envíe sus formularios de inscripción de estudiantes a Juvenal Vasquez antes del Viernes 12 de Abril. Una vez que recibamos sus formularios de inscripción, nos comunicaremos con usted para confirmar su asistencia. Agradecemos sinceramente su ayuda con este proceso. Las camisetas y horarios se entregarán el día del evento, Viernes 26 de Abril.
Información del Día del Evento, Ubicación y Estacionamiento
El día del evento, deje a sus estudiantes cerca de los mástiles de bandera en el campus del Colegio de Mendocino en Ukiah. Esta área está ubicada junto al edificio principal de Servicios Estudiantiles, MacMillan Hall y el edifico del Teatro.
A todos los estudiantes se les pedirá que usen su etiqueta con su nombre durante el Retiro de Estudiantes Latinos. Los estudiantes sin etiqueta no podrán participar en las actividades y serán remitidos a su acompañate. Esto es para la seguridad de todos lo estudiantes y asistentes. Además, los estudiantes recibirán una camiseta del evento. Los estudiantes deben usar la camiseta durante el evento.
Por favor hable con sus estudiantes con anticipación sobre la conducta adecuada. No se permiten dispositivos electrónicos de mano ni teléfonos celulares al evento y se upeden dejar en la escuela o en el autobús. Tradicionalmente, los acompañantes y los voluntarios desempeña un papel importante a la hora de ayudar a controlar la multitud y ayudar a crear una atmósfera divertida y acogedora. Por este motivo, te pedimos que asistas a la presentación del evento y a los talleres con sus alumnos. También contaremos con estudiantes universitarios experimentados que ayudarán con los talleres y acompañarán a los estudiantes.
