Educational Administrator

RESPONSIBILITIES

Under direction of the Vice-President of Education and Student Services, provides administrative supervision and oversight for instructional programs and special-funded programs for the main campus in Ukiah.

Oversees selection, training, and evaluation of full-time and part-time faculty, program managers and support staff; determines teaching assignments; provides general supervision including orientation, professional development, general assistance, determining priorities, resolving problems, and coordinating/conducting evaluations.

Provides administrative oversight for assigned instructional programs and special funded programs including program review, program and curriculum development, staffing recommendations and capital outlay requests; articulates plans to others to provide direction.

Supervises development and maintenance of the budget and the schedule of classes for basic skills and transfer courses in the District.

Serves on District Committees including but not limited to the Educational Action Plan Committee, Enrollment Management Committee, Curriculum Committee, Planning and Budgeting Committee, the Student Equity Committee and Student Learning Outcome Committee.

Develops and prepares grant applications, budgets, and reports for local, state, and federal grant-supported and district programs; follows up as necessary.

Represents the college to the public; establishes contact with the local community public agencies, school principals, counselors, teachers, organizations, cultural entities, and the media as needed.

Develops and maintains collaborative partnerships that enhance instructional programs and services.

Promotes cooperative planning efforts among educational agencies and institutions in the District to improve articulation and planning of educational services and avoid duplication of services.

Assists in the promotion and marketing of the college image and articulation of instructional programs in the college service area.

Assists with the institutional accreditation process as needed.

Receives student, faculty, and other complaints and conducts appropriate follow-up.

Researches, analyzes and maintains information needed for instructional administration purposes; prepares a variety of reports; makes presentations.

Reviews legislation, code, policies, and procedures related to area of responsibility; apprises others of pending or needed changes to current practices.

Represents the District at assigned local, regional, and state meetings; organizes and serves on committees as assigned; performs other duties as assigned.

Oversees the Basic Skills Initiative funding and actives, oversees the Adult Education Block Grant (AEBG) and supervises the AEBG Project Director

QUALIFICATIONS

Must meet State mandated minimum qualifications for an educational administrator: Master’s degree and one year of formal training, internship, or leadership experience reasonably related to the administrator’s administrative assignment, or the equivalent.

Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Knowledge of : Related laws, policies, and regulations; curriculum/program development; educational needs of the local community; techniques of class scheduling; principles of budgeting, supervision, and management; long and short-range planning techniques; educational technology including integrated information management systems; grant application processes; distance education; instructional support services; teaching-learning process, including Student Learning Outcomes and assessments; quality instructional methods; community college operations; accreditation procedures for community colleges; issues related to Student Equity.

Ability to: Plan, develop, organize and administer instructional program; provide administrative direction to faculty, program managers and other staff; interpret and apply related laws, regulations, policies and procedures; assess and evaluate community educational needs and interests; develop and implement related programs, policies, and procedures; select, train, supervise and evaluate faculty and staff; develop and manage a variety of budgets; utilize relevant technology; make effective recommendations and decisions; take independent action; research, compile, and analyze information/data; prepare and present reports; visibly and positively represent the college to the public; work cooperatively with others; acknowledge and encourage faculty and staff excellence and professional development; communicate effectively verbally and in writing; prioritize workload and conflicting demands; work effectively in a demanding environment; work variable hours including evenings and weekends.

ASSIGNMENT/SALARY BENEFITS
This eductional administrator will be employed by an annual contract with an option for two-year renewals.  The salary range is $113,498 to $131,386 with a maximum initial placement at Step 2.  There is a $2,600 stipend for an earned doctorate.  Twelve days of sick leave and twenty dayus of vacation are earned annually.  There are eighteen paid holidays.  Family medical, dental, prescription, and vision beneftis and employee life insurance are provided.  Current salary schedule:  /college/employment/salary-schedule.
