I grew up in a small town in central California with a population less than 500. I love being back in rural California and am glad my daughter will get to grow up here. I completed my undergraduate degree in Biology at UC Merced and then obtained my PhD in Immunology at UC Davis. However, education was not easy for me. I was almost held back a grade in my early education and did not reach grade level milestones until high school due to struggles with reading and dyslexia. It was this experience that drew me to the community college system. Community colleges provide a safe and supported learning environment where anyone can obtain educational success. During graduate school, I began adjunct teaching at American River College in Sacramento. I started my career at Mendocino College in 2016 as the Math, Engineering, Science, Achievement (MESA) Director and transitioned to the Dean of Centers position in 2018. As the Dean of Centers, I have the honor of overseeing education at our three Centers in Fort Bragg, Willits, and Lakeport as well as our educational sites in Covelo and Anderson Valley. I am here to make your educational experience more accessible and successful. If you have any suggestions for improvements, please be sure to fill out our survey card.
