Bias (they/he) began teaching for Mendocino College in Fall 2023 at the Lake Center. Shortly after, they began teaching dual enrollment at Upper Lake High School, where they have supported students for the past several years. Bias is an alumni of both Upper Lake High School and Mendocino College, where he received his AA in Communications. He also holds a BA in English and a minor in Creative Writing from the University of California, Merced, as well as graduate degrees from the University of California, San Diego in Literature (MA & C.Phil.). Bias' favorite part about teaching for Mendocino College is giving back to the same communities that kickstarted his own scholarly journey. A self-proclaimed 'silly-little-guy,' Bias teaches with empathy, flexibility, and humor. He loves sharing his own non-linear academic journey and creating a supportive environment for students to grow at their own pace. Outside of school, Bias enjoys goofing off, writing, making art, floral photography, and theater. Fun Fact: Bias has five (yes, five!) cats that he loves to share photos of.
