Biology is the scientific exploration of life. It allows students to study organisms from the molecular level to the communities in which they live. The program provides a foundation for further study in the life sciences and related fields of study, which includes, but is not limited to, medicine, dentistry, epidemiology, toxicology, genetics, microbiology, bioinformatics, botany, zoology, and ecology. The Associate in Science in Biology for Transfer is designed to prepare students for a seamless transfer into the CSU system to complete a baccalaureate degree in Biology or similar major. Priority admission with junior status to the CSU system will be granted. Students completing this degree are exempt from Mendocino College Institutional Requirements. Students pursuing this degree may follow either the CSU GE for STEM pattern or the IGETC for STEM pattern.
