Writing Center

The Mendocino College Writing Center is located in the Southeast corner of the library.  The Writing Center is where all of our Writing Labs (English 60, 160, and 560) are now held. (The labs were previously housed in the Learning Center)

Hours of operation: Monday - Thursday from 9:30-2:00 and 4-6 and Fridays from 10:00 - 1:00

The English department wants to encourage students from any discipline, who have essays, or rigorous writing assignments, to enroll in one of the lab classes.  The labs are intended to provide support for all students, not just English students.

English 60 and 160 can be taken for either .5 unit or 1 unit, but English 560 is 0 units.  ENG 560 is an ideal class for students who cannot take on any more units or hours, but would benefit from additional writing support. (Students can enroll in English 560 until November 14.)

We work with students to address:

Important Note:  Writing Center is not a proof-reading/editing service.

Instructors in the labs teach students in a one-on-one setting. We offer support for writers at all levels and focus on the value of writing as a process.
