This piece is not only based on the Japanese "anime" style, but the costume that I depict is also inspired by the currently popular "Gothic Lolita" fashion trend in Japan.

I began with a preliminary sketch of the figure which I scanned into and saved as a Photoshop file. The final design was rendered entirely by hand in Photoshop using multiple layers and filter effects.
