In the original
photo, the child is perched on the edge of an ornate rocking chair.
She seemed so out of place and ill-at-ease. I decided to exaggerate
that feeling by putting her in an unconventional setting. She
started out holding one doll, and that seemed very commonplace.
. . plus, I liked the idea of the three doorways in the structure
and decided to play with this repetition. . . hence the second
"doll".
