"This
piece is one of a series that represents a civilization which
respected and learned from the challenges of other, even opposing,
cultures. In their early, brutal history, like ours, many battles
and wars were fought. The heads of their enemies were preserved
and placed in ceremonial areas, a visually powerful reminder of
their past. There, chieftains would take counselors, fathers would
take sons, and reflect on the understanding that their strengths
and knowledge were built upon the strengths and knowledge and
challenges of others. There is no winning in any engagement where
greater knowledge and understanding are not gained, where we cannot
find a way to "Honor the Enemy Warrior.""
