I wonder if cats have daydreams.
Not about birds and mice and sunbeams
But about being someone.
Like a mother, or a doctor
Or an astronaut, or a truck driver
Or even a strip dancer in a bar.
Do they know what they’re missing
Without opposable thumbs?
Sometimes I wonder.
