THEATRE ARTS
Theatre Arts Associate of Arts Degree For Transfer (AA-T degree)

and

AA Degree in Theatre Arts (Theatre Option)

The Theatre Arts Department offers two degree options: the Associate of Arts degree for transfer (AA-T) which prepares students for transfer to a four-year institution, and is  modeled after the statewide "Transfer Model Curriculum" and the Associate of Arts degree in Theatre Arts (AA) which includes the option of emphasizing in either Theatre or Dance.  After completing a degree program in theatre, a student may be qualified for work as a teacher, actor, director, lighting designer, set designer, cosume designer, stage manager, carpenter, electrician, stitcher, stage hand, radio / television announcer, playwright,  or theatre critic.  

REQUIRED COURSES

Theatre Arts 210B Beginning Acting 3 units

plus 3 additional units selected from:

Theatre Arts 121A Acting Performance I 3 units
Theatre Arts 125A Production Crew I 1-2 units
Theatre Arts 125B Production Crew II 1-2 units
Theatre Arts 125C Production Crew III 1-2 units

plus 9 additional units selected from "List A" (below)
(note: THE 210C or THE 210D may be applied to List A. Only one of these courses my be used towards this requirement. Courses used to fulfill "core courses" above may not be used for electives (below).

* Engish 225 (Shakespeare) is strongly recommended for all individuals who are majoring in Theatre.  Additional courses in dance (THE 231, 234, 238, 239, 242, or 243) and singing (MUS 230 & 231) are also recommended for students with an acting focus.

* English 225 (Shakespeare) is strongly recommended for all theatre emphasis majors. Additional courses in
dance (THE 230A, 230B, 230C, 230D, 234, 238, 239, 242A, 242B, 242C, and 242D) and voice (MUS 230 and
231) are also recommended for students with an acting focus .
