Course Description

An introduction to the branch of psychology that studies and treats mental
illness and psychological disorders. Areas of study include the diagnosis,
treatment, and the social, environmental, and biological factors involved
in psychopathology. Specific topics include: stress; anxiety disorders;
psychosomatic illness; personality disorders; substance abuse disorders;
sexual disorders; depression; bipolar illness; schizophrenia; eating
disorders; childhood disorders; treatment; prevention; and mental illness
in society.

Additional Information

Section 4733 is a video class. Mandatory orientation will be Saturday,
1/26/08, 9 AM - 12 PM in the Center Theater, Ukiah campus. Additional
class meetings will be 3/01, 4/05, & 5/10, 1-4 PM in Room 730. Video
programs may be viewed at the College Learning Center at no charge or
at www.rmimedia.com.
