Course Description

This course offers an overview of human stress response and would be of
interest to the general population, human services providers
(psychotherapists, nurses and social workers) and psychology students. It
supplements required psychology, nursing and social work courses. The
class identifies typical causes of stress in contemporary society
and throughout history. It offers a range of positive and negative
responses to stress, both physical and psychological. Students will learn
to distinguish between stress response and anxiety, and will learn a
spectrum of remedies from around the world for illnesses thought to be
caused by or worsened by stress.
