| Course Description |

| This course offers an overview of human stress response and would be of |
| interest to the general population, human services providers |
| (psychotherapists, nurses and social workers) and psychology students. It |
| supplements required psychology, nursing and social work courses. The |
| class identifies typical causes of stress in contemporary society |
| and throughout history. It offers a range of positive and negative |
| responses to stress, both physical and psychological. Students will learn |
| to distinguish between stress response and anxiety, and will learn a |
| spectrum of remedies from around the world for illnesses thought to be |
| caused by or worsened by stress. |
