| Course Description |

| An introduction to nursing concepts and skills. Students are introduced |
| to the application of critical thinking and the nursing process needed to |
| provide basic care to clients in a variety of community, long term and |
| acute care settings. Emphasis is on promoting optimum health across the |
| health-illness continuum. Clinical experiences provide opportunity to |
| practice selected skills and include campus laboratory as well as |
| community hospital and out-patient settings. |

| Lecture will be held on Mondays 9:30-12:00 and Wednesdays 10:00-12:30; |
| Clinical hours on Tuesdays by arrangement. Lab will be on Wednesday from |
| 1:30-4:30 during the first 6 wks of semester with hours on campus lab. |
