General Studies major leads to the Associate in Arts degree for the student who is not intending to transfer beyond the two-year college level. Students who complete this degree will show a general awareness of the scope of academic disciplines in the Liberal Arts and Sciences. Employment opportunities which require general cultural awareness at entry-level would be appropriate for General Studies majors. The General Studies major consists of: 1) 18 units of degree applicable course work relevant to achieving educational, vocational, and personal goals, and may include up to 3 units of occupational work experience; 2) 18 units of General Education; and 3) 24 units of electives. The major provides the maximum flexibility in program design leading to the Associate in Arts Degree.
