North County Center

North County Center Map

The Mendocino College North County Center, our local link to the California Community College System, offers a small but healthy selection of community college classes, programs and services to the rural communities of inland Mendocino County. From our central location in beautiful downtown Willits, our faculty and staff serve the communities of Willits, Laytonville, Round Valley and Anderson Valley. Like other educators, we at the North County Centerbelieve that higher education at our community college can open many new doors and provide a basis for students to realize their dreams.

Our longtime presence in the inland valley communities of Mendocino County reflects the Mendocino College commitment to provide district-wide access to the California Community College System -- whether you happen to live near the thriving metropolis of Willits itself, in smaller towns such as Laytonville, Covelo, or Boonville, in more isolated places like Sherwood, Spyrock, Hearst, Branscomb, Ridgewood, Bell Springs, or even all by yourself on a hillside far from anywhere.

The North County Center is part of the Mendocino-Lake Community College District, and one of two off-campus centers operated by Mendocino College our sister center is in Lakeport. Each semester, the North County Center offers day and evening college-credit classes in many academic disciplines including Art, Biology, Business Office Technology, Business, Child Development, Computer Science, Dance, English, Geography, Health, History, Mathematics, Music, Physical Education, Political Science, Physical Sciences, Psychology, Sign Language, Sociology, Spanish, Theatre, and more.

The North County Center also provides student services such as academic counseling, student assessments, financial aid information, tutoring, viewing of distance education video tapes, and referrals to other services at the main college campus in Ukiah. Unlike larger educational institutions, which are sometimes characterized by huge classes and impersonal services, our small-town center provides a friendly and accessible atmosphere for new or returning college students. Our faculty and office staff provide continuing education and support services that lead to college degrees, certificates, improved job skills, transfer to other colleges and universities, personal enrichment, and lifelong learning.

We take great pride in offering affordable California community college classes and support services in ways that reflect the small-town character, interests and sensibilities of rural Mendocino County. Like the rest of our neighbors, we live where we work and appreciate "the personal touch" in our dealings with others. We believe "Everybody's somebody at the North County Center", and, most of the time, you can speak face-to-face with a real person at our front desk, with faculty in our classrooms, or, if we're not nearby, you can usually reach us quickly by phone, fax, or e-mail.

How to find and contact the North County Center:

From San Francisco: Travel north across the Golden Gate Bridge, continue north on U.S. Highway 101 and turn right at the fourth stoplight. The North County Center is two blocks from 101 (also Willits Main Street) on the corner of Marin and East Commercial Streets.
