GALLERY OPENING: "TRANSFORMATION AND RE-PURPOSE" FEATURING WORK FROM TARI KERSS AND BROOKE HOLVE
The Mendocino College Art Gallery presents the work of Tari Kerss and Brooke Holve in "Transformation and Re-Purpose," from October 18 through November 9, 2012.
Tari Kerss's woven sculptural pieces focus on the quality of light and air as they interact with her graceful pod-like forms. Her interest in transparency has led her to weave with unconventional materials like monofiliment.
Looking at the changing role of books in the face of technology, Brooke Holve is a visual artist who uses silk, book remnants, prints and her own distinctive process of cutting and recombining parts and pieces to explore material interaction and tangible emotion in constructions and mixed media installations.
The public in invited to an opening reception for the artists Thursday October 18th from 4 to 6pm at the Gallery in the Center for Visual and Performing Arts.
Regular gallery hours are Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday 12:30 - 3:30 or by special appointment 468-3207. The gallery will also be open during the performances of "Inherit the Wind" October 19, 20, 25, 26, 27, and 28th.
