COLLEGE SEEKS QUALIFIED BIDDERS FOR WILLITS CONSTRUCTION PROJECT

Willits Classroom

Mendocino College is now seeking qualified bidders for its Measure W Bond-funded North County Center project in Willits. A formal Notice Inviting Bids has been issued by the college governing board announcing details of the bidding process and the bid deadline of 1 pm on July 25, 2012.

With a projected construction cost of approximately $4 million, the new college center in Willits will feature three classrooms, computer lab, a learning commons, group study rooms, admissions and registration center, faculty and staff offices and more. Located on four acres of college-owned property at the northwest corner of East Commercial and North Lenore Streets in Willits, the new center is projected for completion in time for the start of the Spring semester in January 2014. In addition to construction of the center facility, the project also includes development of a parking lot, landscaping, courtyard, and facility access improvements along East Commercial Street.

A mandatory bidders' conference will be held at the project site, 300 East Commercial Street in Willits, on July 10, 2012 at 1:00:00 p.m. for the purpose of acquainting all prospective bidders with contract documents and the project site. For more information about the bidding process, please contact the Mendocino College office of Facilities Planning at 467-1028.

The Willits project is funded by the Measure W Bond, approved by voters in Mendocino and Lake Counties in 2006. In addition to the North County Center in Willits, bond funds are currently being used to complete significant improvements and build new college facilities in Ukiah and Lakeport. The bond has already provided funding for the new college Library and Learning Center set to open this fall on the main campus in Ukiah, Lake Center in the city of Lakeport scheduled for completion at the end of the year, and several other major construction and equipment acquisition projects designed to improve college programs and services.
