Mendocino College Telecommunications Technician, John Loucks, was selected in March to receive one of the 2012-13 Classified Staff awards.

John has worked for Mendocino College since 1998.  His supervisor, Karen Christopherson, Director of Information Technology, reports that he has worked tirelessly on many telecommunications projects supported by Measure W.  This has included the networking/wireless infrastructure projects, as well as system administration issues related to the implementation of the new Datatel/Colleague integrated software system and the portal.  John has also been key in planning technology for all new buildings, including the college centers and remodels on campus.  He is ever vigilant about network and data security and is responsible for phones and voicemail for the District.  John manages college resources wisely while balancing the risk the college faces everyday with network intrusion and corruption.  He cares very much for his colleagues and the District.  He is one of those employees who can be counted on to take on any task when asked to or if he sees the need to fill the void.

The Mendocino College Foundation provides $500 for each classified award given.  The winner has the opportunity to choose a college program to receive the award which is then used by the program to support the college’s strategic goals.  John has delegated his award to the Culinary Arts Program.
