Mendocino College Women's Basketball Placement

Former Two Year Player Tessa Giammona Signs with Kansas Wesleyan
Mendocino College women’s basketball is giving a bitter-sweet farewell to Tessa Giammona who recently signed with Kansas Wesleyan University to finish her college degree and join the coyotes’ basketball program on a scholarship. Head Coach Gordon Reimer of Kansas Wesleyan University women’s basketball comments that “Tessa has great basketball I.Q. which enables her to find open teammates and make good court decisions. She has the ability to put the ball on the floor and get to the basket. Her work ethic and leadership skills will help the team succeed in reaching their goals. I look forward to coaching Tessa over the next stage in her basketball career.” Tessa left a memorable imprint at Mendocino College contributing both her freshman and sophomore year. As a product of division II Elsie Allen High School in Santa Rosa, Tessa brought a high skill set to start her college career at Mendocino College. At Mendocino Giammona averaged 9.6 ppg, 2.5 apg, and 4.7 rpg her freshman year. She only got better her sophomore year; averaging 11.6 ppg, 2.9 apg, and 5.3 rpg. She helped lead the team as captain her sophomore year and earned Bay Valley All-Conference for the 2010 season. The team voted her Offensive MVP for her slashing and shooting skills and leading the team in scoring. Coach Jody Steliga comments, “Tessa brought knowledge and skill to the court and often created opportunities on the offensive end in critical possessions. She has been motivated since the first day of attending Mendocino to transfer and play four years of college basketball; I’m excited to see she has accomplished that goal and we wish her luck in this new journey.”
