Congressman Mike Thompson to Hold Forum at Mendocino College
On Tuesday, March 30, 2010, from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm, Congressman Mike Thompson will hold a forum at the Mendocino College Little Theatre on the Ukiah Campus. Congressman Thompson, who is speaking at the invitation of Political Science Instructor Phil Warf, will give a brief update about events in Washington and then answer questions.
Mike Thompson has represented California's 1st Congressional District since 1998. He is a member of the House Committee on Ways and Means and the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, where he serves as Chair of the Subcommittee on Terrorism, Human Intelligence, Analysis and Counterintelligence. During his tenure in Congress, he has been a particularly strong champion for healthcare, the environment, fiscal responsibility and ending the war in Iraq. Prior to serving in Congress, Rep. Thompson represented California's 2nd District in the California State Senate, and was the first Vietnam veteran elected to that body. He is currently a small vineyard owner and lives with his wife, Jan, in St. Helena.
The forum is open to the public as well as Mendocino College students. The Little Theatre is located in the Lowery Building on the main campus in Ukiah.
