Theresa Whitehill to read at Mendocino College
Friends of the Mendocino College Library will host a book release celebration, reading and book signing by Theresa Whitehill whose latest work of poetry is A Grammar of Longing. The reading will take place on Thursday, December 15th at 7:00 PM in Room 5310 in the Center for Visual and Performing Arts on the Mendocino College Ukiah campus, located at 1000 Hensley Creek Road.
Whitehill, born in Sacramento in 1957, has lived in Mendocino County since 1984, where she is well-known to local poetry audiences. In 2009, she was selected to serve as Poet Laureate for the city of Ukiah, a two-year term. Her letterpress broadsides are in the collections of national libraries and universities, including the John Hay Library of Brown University, and the Bancroft Library of UC Berkeley. Her most recent publication is A Grammar of Longing, published by Pygmy Forest Press in the fall of 2009. More information about Whitehill can be found at www.coloredhorse.com
Don’t miss this opportunity to hear and meet the poet. Books will be for sale at the reading. This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Mendocino College Library, an affiliate group of the Mendocino College Foundation.
