Mendocino College Nursing Program Receives Donation

Ukiah, CA- The Mendocino College Nursing Program received a donation from Frank R. Howard Memorial Hospital in Willits on February 5.
The donation of $10,000 will be used to offset instructor and staff salaries, which provides relief to the district during these difficult budgetary times.
Frank R. Howard Memorial Hospital has given donations in the past to the Mendocino College Nursing Program and it is through these donations that Mendocino College is able to offer yearly admission, student scholarships and faculty support.
“We tremendously appreciate the high caliber of nurses your program (Mendocino College) has graduated,” President and CEO of Frank R. Howard Memorial Hospital Kevin Erich said.
The nursing program has also received support directed towards its students through a $1,000 scholarship received from the Foundation for Medical Care.  This will be used to provide direct financial support for local Registered Nurse (RN) students who plan to continue their careers in Mendocino or Lake County after graduation.
Currently, the Mendocino College Nursing Program admits a new class of students each fall and graduates 24 students each year, with many of those graduates choosing to work as RNs at local hospitals.
The nursing program is a two year course of study which prepares students to take the Registered Nurse licensing examination.  There are approximately two years of prerequisite and general education courses which must be completed prior to application to the nursing program.
There is also a Licensed Vocational Nursing (LVN) to RN option for students who already have their LVN license in California and meet other admission criteria.
The Mendocino College Nursing Program is accepting applications until March 6, 2009 for Fall 2009 entry to the RN program.  For additional information regarding the Mendocino College RN Program, contact the nursing department at (707) 468-3099 or
