Other Scholarship Resources The following is a list of links to organizations outside Mendocino College providing scholarship opportunities. Scholarships are listed by their application deadline. Check back often as this page is updated on a regular basis.

SCHOLARSHIPS WITH UPCOMING DEADLINES Alliance for Rural Community Health Currently accepting applications. The Alliance for Rural Community Health (ARCH) is accepting applications from persons seeking to advance or enhance their career in the health field. The awards range from $1,000 to $4,000 per semester. —back to top National Organization for Women Poster contest Deadline: December 1, 2009. The National Organization for Women Poster Contest is available to female students. To enter, you must create a poster that may be used as part of a national campaign to challenge the media's use of violent, drug-addicted, starved, surgically-enhanced images of women and to fight against industries that profit from women s dissatisfaction with their bodies. The words 2010 Love Your Body Campaign and the NOW Foundation web site address must be included on the poster. —back to top 2009-2010 SEVEN Fund $10,000 Essay Competition "New Models of Development" Deadline: December 7, 2009. Open to full-time college students with an interest in entrepreneurship and global poverty issues. To enter you must read the article Rwanda Rising: A New Model of Development', and in a similar fashion, tell the story of enterprise solutions to poverty in other places, to highlight where these models are taking root and flourishing around the world. A 100-word abstract is also required with your essay. MYARTSPACE Art Scholarship Deadline: December 16, 2009. Candidates must register for the competition AND submit an online MYARTSPACE gallery to the scholarship competition before the final deadline. The gallery submitted can have up to 20 images (JPEG format, 10mb each in size). Three awards will be given—1st-$5,000; 2nd-$2,000; 3rd-$1,000. Their next deadline is: Top Ten List Submit an online short written response (250 words or less) for the scholarship topic:“Create a ‘top ten list’ of the craziest or most unique scholarships you have heard of, and briefly describe each scholarship.” Note: The awards may be real or fictional. Hispanic Scholarship Fund Deadlines: December 15, 2009. The Hispanic Scholarship Fund offers a variety of undergraduate scholarship opportunities with varying deadlines. Two $500 scholarships will be awarded based upon a 400-600 word essay on the topic: “As a student, what advice would you give policy makers during this season of health reform? Feel free to address broad issues or specific topics, real world stories are welcome.” —back to top Loreen Arbus Focus on Disability Scholarship for Student Filmmakers Deadline: January 13, 2010. This $10,000 award will be given to a student writer, student producer or student director who is disabled, to a student producer whose piece focuses on people with disabilities, or to a student piece that features a person with a disability as one of the main characters. —back to top Sacks for CF Scholarship Deadline: January 15, 2010. Funds will be awarded to 30 college students, based on their academic achievements and adherence to daily Cystic Fibrosis therapy. —back to top
Fred Rogers Memorial Scholarship Deadline: January 15, 2010. Three (3) scholarships, in the amount of $10,000 each, will be awarded to qualified applicants. In addition to the monetary award, successful applicants are mentored by children’s programming professionals during the academic year. —back to top
Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship Deadline: January 20, 2010. The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation is looking everywhere for the finest students in America. Through their annual Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship Program, they provide scholarships worth up to $30,000 per year to community college students & recent alumni to help them earn a four-year degree. Apply online to be considered for nomination by our Mendocino College faculty representative. —back to top Lilly Reintegration Scholarship Deadline: January 25, 2010. Qualified applicants must be diagnosed with schizophrenia, schizophreniform, schizoaffective disorder, or bipolar disorder. Be currently receiving medical treatment for the disease, including medications and psychiatric follow-up. Be actively involved in rehabilitative or reintegrative efforts, such as clubhouse membership, part-time work, volunteer efforts or school enrollment. —back to top Jeannette Rankin Women's Scholarship Fund Deadline: March 1, 2010. Must be: - A woman, age 35 or older.

Native American Scholarship Fund - Catching The Dream March 15-Summer Semester or Quarter Catching the Dream operates three scholarship programs: MESBEC program • NALE program • TBM program —back to top 2009-2010 Real Estate Endowment Fund Scholarship Deadline: March 15, 2010. Approximately $30,000 will be available to fund scholarships for the 2009-10 year. That amount will fund approximately 35-55 scholarships statewide, depending upon the amount awarded. The application filing period is September 8, 2009-March 15, 2010 by which students must submit their scholarship applications to the college Financial Aid Office. —back to top
