Ukiah, CA – Mendocino College will be hosting their 22nd annual Native American Motivation day on Friday April 25 from 8:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. The theme of the event is “Soaring To Success,” and is aimed at students from the 7th to 12th grade. The Native American Motivation Day is sponsored by California Tribal TANF (Temporary Assistance For Needy Families) Partnership Program, Savings Bank of Mendocino County, Mendocino College American Indian Alliance, Mendocino College ASMC, Mendocino College MESA Program, Round Valley Indian Tribes and Pinoleville Youth Group. The event will begin in the Center for the Visual and Performing Arts Building at Mendocino College with a prayer given by Christine Hamilton and feature guest speaker Thomas Leon Brown, who is the Executive Director of California TANF Partnership Program. Brown is a member of the Elem Indian Colony Pomo Tribe from Lake County and a Business Administration graduate from Munson Business College in San Francisco, CA. Breakout sessions will include career choices, College Tour with hands on activities and information on how to support your college education. There will be Native American dancing performed by Pinoleville Youth Group from 12:30 – 1:30. Those attending the event will receive a free lunch cooked by the Savings Bank of Mendocino County and receive free T-shirts sponsored by California Tribal TANF Partnership Program.
