Mendocino College Opens New Student Areas in MacMillan Hall

Ukiah, CA - Thanks to funding acquired through Measure W, a Proposition 39 bond measure passed by district voters in November 2006, Mendocino College has moved forward in renovations of its Financial Aid/EOPS and Transfer/Career Center areas.
The Financial Aid/EOPS Office has moved to MacMillan Hall so that students can access it more easily when registering or seeing their counselors.
“All of the staff are excited to be located near other student services in order to improve student access,” Assistant Dean of Financial Aid and EOPS Jacque Bradley said. “We can’t wait to serve more students, and now is the ideal time for high school seniors to apply for financial aid,” Bradley added.
The new office also includes CalWORKS, special population and Native American support services.
Also in MacMillan Hall, the Career/Transfer Center was combined with the Cooperative Work Experience program and moved to Room 1200, located adjacent to Admission and Records.
The new center includes a larger student area with computer access, tables, chairs and printed information about transfer and career opportunities.
“This is an exciting time at Mendocino College. Our intention is to make the center inviting for students so that they will take advantage of the resources as they plan their educational career,” new Career/Transfer Center Director Candie Dickinson said.
Cooperative Work Experience Director Dan Jenkins is also located in the center, along with staff support for both programs.
Other Measure W projects already complete include new roofs on several campus buildings; new classroom furniture; and the selection of a new integrated software system from Datatel that will allow the college to integrate functions and move many online for the benefit of students.
