UPDATES

December 2013 - Minor renovations and upgraded appliance installation has been completed. No other Pt. Arena projects are currently scheduled. Any additional work will require the District to re-allocate funds from un-allocated reserves by the Bond Implementation Planning Committee through the prioritization process.

March 2013 - Renovation of the classroom/lab facility, house #1 and the bathroom in house #2 is complete. No additional Measure W bond funded work at the Pt. Arena facility is currently planned.

December 2012 - Two projects have been awarded for the Point Arena facility. One for the renovation and improvement of the classroom facility and one for the renovation of house #1. This includes renovation of the bathrooms, roofs and facilities necessary to make the buildings usable for Spring class field trips.

June 2012 - Funds have been reallocated to other projects. The remaining budget amount of $65,698 has been allocated for basic remedial work.

June 2011 - Due to considerations of Master Plan priorities, this project is under review and reconsideration for its priority rating.

March 2011 - Priorization of the project elements has taken place. The project will be broken into phases. Phase One will be the roof replacement and repair. Bidding and award of this phase will take place whenever weather conditions allow the necessary time to complete the work. Siding replacement will follow. Specific interior and program improvements will take place after these two high priority phases have been completed. Winterization has been done.

December 2009 - Planning and design has begun with the architects and special consultants. Along with renovation and repair of the facilities, the project will incorporate the pest, asbestos, and lead paint recommendations included in those reports.

July 2009 - The final recommendations regarding pest, asbestos, and lead paint are complete. Planning for the renovation project will commence during the Fall 2009

August 2008 - A Termite Inspection Report has been completed by a local pest inspection company. An asbestos and lead paint inspection will also be ordered to identify additional improvement costs associated with the project.

April 2008 - The Pt. Arena Planning Committee conducted a walk-thru of the property during the month of April. It was determined that further direction will need to be taken from the results of a building evaluation report, and asbestos and building inspection reports. Also, further definition is needed regarding lab needs and requirements. TLCD Architecture will then assist with specifications for materials based upon the needs defined by these findings and the extension of the remodel.

District, with the assistance of legal counsel, will draft a Board Resolution to proceed with this project before any work is done. It is anticipated that the Resolution will be presented at the May 2008 Board of Trustees' Meeting.

  

August 2007 - Condition assessment of the facility may be able to be included in the State's facilities condition assessment that is being scheduled.
