717180: Athletic Field Improvements & Renovation

 

Scope of Project: Renovation and drainage systems for the baseball, softball, and track/practice fields.

UPDATES

December 2010 - The field renovation project is complete except for the wind screen equipment, which as been ordered and scheduled for delivery and installation in January 2011. Final closeout will be done when wind screens are received and installed by District staff. The baseball, softball, soccer, and football programs are now utilizing the fields for their programs.

September 2010 - The project is currently 75% complete. As of the November 2010 CBOC meeting, the athletic field renovation is complete and under the contractor's maintenance period. Final closeout will be done when wind screens are purchased and installed by District staff. The baseball, softball, and football programs are not utilizing the fields for their programs.

December 2009 - The scope of the athletic field project has been adjusted to reflect the reduced budget allocation for this project. The project will include renovation and drainage systems for the baseball, softball, and track/practice fields. The synthetic turf option has been removed from the project. Due to the water moratorium in the Ukiah Valley, this project has been postponed until 2010.

July 2009 - Because of the current water moratorium, this project has been postponed.

June 2008 - A planning committee has met to develop plans for the improvement and renovation of the athletic fields. A consultant was retained to work with the committee. A plan has been presented and has been approved by the Bond Implementation Planning Committee that will combine the budgets for the Athletic Field Improvements and Renovation and the Soccer Field projects. By combining these project budgets, improvements can be made to the track field and drainage improvements can be implemented for the baseball and softball fields that will meet the needs of all physical education programs, including soccer, within the combined original budgets of these projects.

August 2007 - Kitchell's Scott Colt met with the Director of of Athletics Gary Garabato, Baseball Coach Matt Gordon and Softball Coach Kelvin Chapman regarding the athletic field renovations. A review of the existing conditions and a scope of work for the baseball, softball, and practice fields was reviewed by the Committee with proposed solutions to water drainage issues. The men's and women's toilet facilities adjacent to the Softball Field were also part of the discussion.
