Mendocino College Summer Session in Lakeport


UKIAH, CA - Registration has begun for Mendocino College’s six-week summer session, which starts on June 18 and ends on July 26. Locally, classes are offered at the college’s Lake Center, 1005 Parallel Drive, Lakeport.
 
This year, the college offers a selection of transfer, vocational and lifelong learning courses.  “In the summers, we try to meet the needs of high school students who may be interested in trying a college course or brushing up on math, as well as college students who need a few transfer credits,” said Vice President of Education & Student Services Meridith Randall.  “We also offer courses for part-time students, such as retirees.”
 
For students working towards a two-year Associate of Arts or Science Degree, or seeking transferable units (numbers 200 or above), many of which meet general education (GE) requirements at California State University (CSU) and University of California (UC) campuses, and other college requirements this summer the Lakeport Center offers:
 
* BUS 50-Business Math (#8312)
* EAS 200-Environmental Science (#8314)
* ENG 80–Academic Reading and Writing (#8316)
* ENG 205-Critical Thinking (#8317)
* HLH 200-Health Education (#8319)
* HST 210-U S History (#8320)
* MTH 55-Elementary Algebra (#8328)
* MTH 220-Statistics (#8329)
* NRS 200-Environmental Science (#8332)
* PHL 210-Ethics (#8334)
* SPN 100-Conversational Spanish I (#8337)
 
For students wishing to work on skills, they can consider Business Office Technology (BOT 100s) classes in typing, keyboarding, calculators, and word processing, Using the Internet (CSC 57), Basic Math (MTH 10s & 11), and Pre Algebra (MTH 54).A beginning piano class will also be offered in Lakeport this summer (MUS 210).
 
Admission to Mendocino College can be done online at www.mendocino.edu. Admitted students can register for classes now using TelReg, the telephone registration system, at 468-3353, Monday-Friday, 8 AM-10 PM.  Walk-in registration begins Monday, June 11, Monday-Thursday, 8 AM to 5 PM.
 
The College’s summer hours, June 5 – July 27, are Monday through Thursday, 8 AM to 5 PM.
