Summer Program Opportunities

Mini-Corps is committed to carrying out its objective of helping migrant students with their education. We provide assistance to migrant children who still need to meet or exceed performance standards prescribed in the California Master Plan. In order to increase the numbers of professionals who are sensitive and committed to the needs of migrant children we provide additional employment opportunities for students seeking to enhance their professional skills during the summer.

Summer Program

Indoor

This program is like the School Year Indoor Program except that you are required to work the entire school day. You work closely with a teacher and tutor migrant students.

Outdoor

The Mini-Corps teacher assistants learn to apply the five senses to the learning of science in an outdoor setting. They expose migrant students to real life science and teach them to enjoy and respect nature. Migrant students are able to use scientific investigation in their everyday learning activities. Science in the Outdoor Education program is enjoyable and full of learning opportunities. Migrant students are also provided with diverse learning activities such as ropes courses, overnight excursions, survival wilderness leadership development, nature walk, and hikes.

Puppetry Mini-Corps Puppetry students are trained in presentation techniques wherein puppets serve as the vehicle for creative instruction in personal, mental health and self-esteem. The puppets will engage the migrant students and their families in verbal experiences through effective puppet presentations, story boards, creative expression, and multicultural experiences in the primary language of the students and in English.
