TEAS Testing
Mendocino College is planning to implement the TEAS test as a pre-entrance requirement beginning with the Spring 2009 admission cycle. TEAS testing will assess applicants knowledge in the areas of Math, Science, Reading and English. Applicants who do not pass any of these areas of testing will have one year to remediate by taking coursework or doing individual study and can then retest one (1) time. Information and study guides can be found on www.atitesting.com and it is highly recommended that students prepare for this exam well in advance of applications. A composite score of 67% or greater will be required for a student to enter the program.

Admission Process
Also note that there was a change in our application processing and offers of admission starting in Fall 2008 when we were required to change our acceptance procedures due to Chancellor’s Office regulations. We still utilize the Chancellor’s Office formula for acceptance, which takes overall GPA, science GPA, and English GPA into account, as well as counting negatively if an applicant has repeated one of the science prerequisites (Anatomy, Physiology, Microbiology) due to a non-passing grade (D or F). In addition to the formula, we have now established a cut score wherein applicants that score over 80% on the Chancellor’s Office formula will be considered for admission and those that score below will not be considered. Applications that score above 80% will be placed into a lottery and randomly selected (by computer generated method) for offers of admission until all available seats are exhausted.
Those who are sent offers of admission will still need to meet other criteria as described in the application handbook (background check, written response to offers of admission, etc).
