  Admission Process

Initial application processing uses the Chancellor’s Office formula for acceptance, which calculates overall GPA, Science GPA, and English GPA to determine eligibility. A non-passing grade (D or F) in one of the science prerequisites (Anatomy, Physiology, Microbiology) is calculated in the formula as a negative if it occured within the past 10 years.

Part of the calculation includes an established cut score wherein applicants that score at least an 80% on the Chancellor’s Office formula will be considered for admission and those that score below will not be considered.  Applications that score above 80%, and meet all other requirements, are placed into a lottery and randomly selected (by computer generated method) for offers of admission until all available seats are exhausted.

Those who are sent offers of admission will still need to meet other criteria as described in the application handbook (background check, written response to offers of admission, etc).

*All prerequisites and GE courses must be completed by the end of the semester in which an applicant submits their application.

                            CLASS OF 2013

 TEAS Testing

The TEAS 5 Test is a pre-entrance requirement.  TEAS V testing assesses applicants knowledge in the areas of Math, Science, Reading and English. Applicants must achieve a 62% composite score to be considered for admission.

Information and study guides can be found at www.atitesting.com. Study and testing resources are also available online through the Mendocino College Library at http://www.mendocino.edu/mendocinocollegelibrary/databases.htm. Click on Learning Express Library, register as a new user, choose jobs and careers, then Nursing and Allied Health.

It is highly recommended that students prepare for this exam well in advance of attempting it.  A composite score of 62% or greater is required for a student to enter the program.  If you have taken the exam more than once, we look at the FIRST attempt when seeing if you have passed the exam.  If you have taken the exam within the past year and did not receive a 62% or higher, YOU ARE INELIGIBLE to apply for the program at this time.

Potential students are strongly encouraged to use college resources, and their own study materials in addition to ATI prep information to prepare for the TEAS V exam.

Potential students should schedule a TEAS exam at Mendocino College (or other sites)  (http://www.atitesting.com/ati_next_gen/customecom/SessionCityStateSelection.aspx?stf=6&stype=1&prev=1) and can then submit their passing score results with their application.

***TEAS V TESTING DATES HAVE BEEN ADDED FOR October, November, and December 2013 AT MENDOCINO COLLEGE***  Mendocino College applicants should schedule online early for these dates before they fill up!  Use the above link.  Scheduling is done through ATItesting.com, not through the college.
