Admission Process
Initial application processing uses the Chancellor’s Office formula for acceptance, which calculates overall GPA, science GPA, and English GPA, as well as counting negatively if an applicant has repeated one of the science prerequisites (Anatomy, Physiology, Microbiology) due to a non-passing grade (D or F). In addition to the formula, we have now established a cut score wherein applicants that score at least an 80% on the Chancellor’s Office formula will be considered for admission and those that score below will not be considered. Applications that score above 80%, and meet all other requirements, are placed into a lottery and randomly selected (by computer generated method) for offers of admission until all available seats are exhausted.
Those who are sent offers of admission will still need to meet other criteria as described in the application handbook (background check, written response to offers of admission, TEAS test, etc).
*As of 2012 there will be a mandatory pre-application orientation as part of the application process.
*All prerequisites and GE courses must be completed by the end of the Spring semester in which you are applying. This is a change to start in 2012 so note that all GE courses must be completed by the end of the semester in which you are submiting your application.
The APPLICATION PERIOD FOR the SPRING 2012 LVN TO RN BRIDGE PROGRAM IS CLOSED.
The next application period will be in October 2012
Advanced Standing Applications are accepted on a continuing basis for students that have completed nursing coursework while in another RN program within the past 2 years. Carefully review the application for requirements and eligibility before applying. This application is not for LVN to RN Bridge applicants. Click on the above link to open the application.

TEAS Testing
Mendocino College implemented the TEAS 5 Test as a pre-entrance requirement beginning with the Spring 2009 admission cycle. TEAS V testing assesses applicants knowledge in the areas of Math, Science, Reading and English. Applicants who do not achieve a 62% composite score will meet with the Program Director and be given a remediation plan. These applicants will have one year to remediate by taking coursework or other recommended study and can then retest one (1) time. Information and study guides can be found at www.atitesting.com. Study and testing resources are also available online through the Mendocino College Library at http://www.mendocino.edu/mendocinocollegelibrary/databases.htm. Click on Learning Express Library, register as a new user, choose jobs and careers, then Nursing and Allied Health. It is highly recommended that students prepare for this exam well in advance of application. A composite score of 62% or greater is required for a student to enter the program.
Potential students are strongly encouraged to use college resources, and their own study materials in addition to ATI prep information to get ready for the TEAS V exam.
Potential students can schedule an exam at another site (available through www.atitesting.com) and can submit their passing score results with their application to speed the application process.
