     Shane Huff is a local product and graduate of Ukiah High School. Shane continued his academic/athletic career at California State University Bakersfield (1994-1997), where the soccer team won three league titles and participated in four NCAA College Cups, three Regional Finals, two Final Fours, and won a National Championship his senior year (1997). During summer breaks from college, Shane played semi-professionally where he was part of a National Championship with the Central Coast Roadrunners in 1997.

     After finishing his playing career, Shane continued coaching for his alma mater. He assisted the men’s team in 1999 and then moved to Fort Lewis College and was the top assistant for the 2000 season. In 2001 Shane was the top assistant coach for the Lobo Men’s team at the University of New Mexico. Shane continued as a volunteer assistant at UNM for two more years while he pursued his Masters Degree in Physical Education. During his final year of coaching at UNM the team advanced to the Division 1 College Cup Finals (2005). After completing his Masters Degree in Physical Education (2003), Shane moved on to pursue his Doctorate in Physical Education. For the past 3 ½ years, Shane has taught and coached varsity soccer at Cibola High School. Shane led Cibola High School to quarterfinal and semi final finishes. During Shane’s four-year coaching tenure, Cibola has had the most success in program history.

     In addition to coaching collegiately, Shane has also coached many high-level club teams. For the past six years, Shane has worked with the Rio Vista Futbol Club. During this time, he has accumulated four State Championships, one Region IV quarterfinal, and two Region IV semi-finals. Shane’s most recent club team (Rio Vista 92’s) saw 14 of his 19 players move on to play at colleges ranging from Junior College to Division I.

     Shane prides himself on guiding student/athletes to the next level. Shane is looking forward to working with Mendocino College Women’s Soccer team where he feels strongly that he can help many of the women student/athletes continue their collegiate dreams after their participation with Mendocino College.

     “I am very excited to join Mendocino College and be a part of a great college and athletic department,” stated Huff. “ My goal for the women’s soccer program is to prepare my student athletes for a four year institution both academically and athletically.

     ”Shane is married to his wife Dana and they have two daughters, Addison(2) and Allie(1).
