Understanding Common Mental Health Disorders in Children

What are mental health disorders in children? ADHD, conduct disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders and autism are among the most common serious mental disorders that many children experience. This training will describe the common mental disorders in children by depicting their symptoms, behaviors and their brain chemistry. In addition, participants will learn how to recognize the warning signs and possible treatment and medication interventions.

Trainer: Lori Switanowski, LMFT is a licensed marriage and family therapist working in the Southern California area for more than 20 years. Lori received her undergraduate degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo. She received a Masters in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University in Malibu, Calif. Lori has worked in foster care and mental health throughout her entire professional career.

Trainings are free and made possible by the California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office
