Understanding Autism and Supporting Individuals with an Autism Diagnosis

This workshop will review the defining features of Autism Spectrum Disorders and how they impact the functioning of the individual with an autism diagnosis. Learn what autism is and is not; Identify the signs and symptoms of autism; Understand how autism can impact the child and the family and understand what some of the challenges are to learning. Effective interventions will also be discussed that address the learning style/needs and behavioral manifestations of autism.

Denise Keller, MA BCBA, works for Mendocino County Office of Education (MCOE)/Selpa as a behavior specialist and autism consultant. She is a board certified analyst and has been active in the field of disabilities for 25 years. Denise is also the parent of a 27 year old son with autism.
