This course will introduce students to the early, classical and medieval
civilizations that have most influenced the modern world. Topics will
include the development of European, American and African civilizations;
the Eastern traditions of India, China, and Japan; and the worlds of
Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Students will gain an understanding
of how the connections between East and West have shaped the world today.
