The course will provide the student with a basic foundation for
understanding the physiological and pharmacological actions of
psychoactive drugs. Psychological, sociological and biological
perspectives will be presented. The course will provide detailed
information on the following groups of drugs; stimulants, tobacco,
depressants, alcohol, opiates and other narcotics, hallucinogens,
marijuana, over-the-counter (OTC) drugs, and selected prescription drugs.
Course may not meet major requirements at transfer institutions. See your
