Degrees and Certificates

Horticulture, Associate of Science Degree

The Horticulture major leads to the Associate in Science degree and prepares the student for transfer to a four-year institution. Students completing the baccalaureate program or graduate work may be hired in the major or allied fields as a landscape designer, florist, nursery management, botanist, landscape architect or teaching.

Required Courses - Major:

AGR 100 - Plant Pest and Disease Management - 3 units

AGR 108 - Soils and Fertility Management - 3 units           

AGR 140 - Introduction to Horticulture - 3 units

AGR 240 - Plant Identification - Fall - 3 units


Plus 9 additional units selected from the following:

AGR 102 - Plant Propagation - 3 units

AGR 142 - Landscape Maintenance - 3 units

AGR 144 - Nursery Projects - 3 units

AGR 147 - Greenhouse Projects - 3 units

AGR 151 - Landscape Irrigation - 2 units

AGR 154 - Landscape Construction - 3 units

AGR 196 - Cooperative Work Experience Education - 3 units

AGR 241 - Plant Identification-Spring - 3 units
