Course Description

Recommended:  Completion of ENG 80.
Who are you?  Your answer to this question depends, in a large way, on your personality.  This engaging course will help you to think as a psychologist things about people (yourself and others).  Personality is a fundamental human characteristic that is responsible for making you a unique individual.  There are no two personalities exactly alike.  An understanding of personality will help you to analyze and understand human behavior in any situation.

• Textbook Information:  Personality: Classic Theories and Modern Research, by Friedman & Schustack, 5th ed. ISBN: 0205050174. Required Rental and used books available in bookstore.
• Estimated Time per Week:  Students can expect to spend approximately 6 to 9 hours per week reading, writing, and taking quizzes and participating in online class discussions.
• Special Requirements:  Log into Etudes the first day of class.  Computer with programs compatible to this course are required as well as an internet connection (dial up not recommended) and an email address. Paper must be sent in Microsoft Word or saved in rich text format.
• Assignments & Tests: 14 Multiple choice quizzes on each chapter are all online with a 3 hour time limit and must be completed by the deadlines. A 6 page (minimum) Personality Paper reviewing various perspectives is required. Students must participate in Discussions online for participation points within one week of questions posted.
• Additional Comments: The entire course will be conducted online through the Etudes program. Students are required to have Internet access, an active email account, the ability to use word processing, conduct Internet searches, attach files, send emails, and work independently.
• New to Etudes: Here is an Online Orientation (Flash presentation opens in a new window) that will show you the basics of how to use Etudes. Here is a flash tutorial (Flash presentation opens in a new window) that demonstrates the log in protocol. Be sure to check System Requirements before getting started with Etudes. You need to do this on each computer you use while taking a class through Etudes.
