Course Description

Fundamental properties and operations of the set of real and complex numbers; linear and quadratic equations and inequalities; polynomials; factoring polynomials; rational expressions; exponents and roots; relations, functions and inverse functions; the Cartesian Coordinate System and linear functions; conic sections; systems of equations and inequalities; matrices, determinants, and Cramer's Rule; exponential and logarithmic functions; sequences and series; and the Binomial Theorem.

  • Textbook Information: Intermediate Algebra for College Students, Books a la Carte Edition plus MyMathLab Student Access; O-321-72928-5; approximate cost – $110.80; Alternate Requirement – MyMathLab – Standalone Access Card 4/E - $98.67 (An online version of the book comes with the access card.)
  • Estimated Time per Week: Students can expect to spend approximately 28.33 hours per week reading, working on research assignments, taking quizzes and participating in online class discussions and online homework.  This class is not self-paced.  Specific assignments and discussions are meant to be completed for the whole class at the same time.
  • Special Requirements: Log into ETUDES by the first day of class (6/4) and follow given directions.
  • Assignments & Tests: All assignments will be completed in MyMathLab and the assignments can be found when you log into the class. 
  • Additional Comments: The entire course will be conducted online through the MyLab course management system. Students are required to have Internet access, an active email account, the ability to use word processing, conduct Internet searches, attach files, send emails and private messages, and work independently.

You need to do this on each computer you use while taking a class through ETUDES.
