Spring 2014  EDU 110 Tutoring Methods (2 units)

Course Description (from course outline on file):

Effective tutoring techniques including planning the tutoring sessions; effective communication skills, as well as reading, writing and study assistance; techniques for working with disabled and culturally different students.

  • Textbook Information:   No textbook required.
  • Estimated Time per Week:  Students can expect to spend approximately 1 hour per week reading, writing, taking quizzes and participating in online class discussions;  in addition all EDU 110 students must complete 3 hours of tutoring per week on average (total of 51 hours for the semester).
  • Special Requirements:  Log into Etudes the first day of class.
  • Assignments & Tests:  Students must complete all assignments as indicated in the ‘Assignments, Tests and Surveys’ area of the Etudes class site.
  • Additional Comments:  The entire course will be conducted online through the Etudes program. Students are required to have Internet access, an active email account, the ability to use word processing, conduct Internet searches, attach files, send emails, and work independently.

Here is a flash tutorial (Flash presentation opens in a new window) that demonstrates the log in protocol. Be sure to check System Requirements before getting started with ETUDES. You need to do this on each computer you use while taking a class through ETUDES.

Last 5 digits of Student COLLEAGUE ID
(Type using all lower case letters)
Example:
    Jose A. Garcia
    Student ID: 1021945
    Username = joga21945

Default Password: Month Day of birth in school records
 
(Type using all lower case letters)
Example:
Birthday is April 11th, 1982 (04/11/82)
Password = 0411

You will be prompted to create a "strong" password, if you are a returning student use the same password you previously created.
