Spring 2011 California Literature (3 units)

Course Description
This course will explore works of California writers, both men and women, who represent significant literary achievement as well as the ethnic, cultural, and geographic diversity of the state. It meets the cross-cultural studies requirement.
Recommended Prep: Must complete ENG 200 with a minimum grade of C.

- Estimated Time per Week: Students can expect to spend approximately 10 hours per week reading, working on assignments, and participating in online class discussions. This class is not self-paced. Specific assignments and discussions are meant to be completed for the whole class at the same time.
- Special Requirements: Log into ETUDES by the first day of class (1/24) and begin working on the first week’s assignment and discussion.
- Assignments & Tests: Each week a reading followed by a written assignment, plus participation in a weekly discussion board.
- Additional Comments: The entire course will be conducted online through the ETUDES course management system. Students are required to have high speed Internet access (dial up not recommended), an active email account, the ability to use word processing, conduct Internet searches, attach files, send emails and private messages, and work independently.
