Spring 2011 CSC 201 Introduction to Windows Applications (3 units)

Course Description
Word processor, electronic spreadsheet and database programs in the college lab provide hands-on experience with a microcomputer relating it to business and home microcomputer applications, operating systems, software evaluation, hardware concepts, essential microcomputer terminology and introduction to graphics and telecommunications.
Recommended Prep: The entire course will be conducted online through the Etudes program. Students are required to have Internet access, an active email account, and the ability to conduct Internet searches, attach files to email messages, and work independently.

- Office 2007 Professional (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint) will be used for the class. It is available on campus in the computer lab, and can be purchased.
- Special Requirements:
Log into Etudes the first day of class (1/24).
- Estimated Time per Week: Students can expect to spend approximately 6 to 9 hours per week in this class.
- Assignments & Tests: Each week students will read 1 chapter of the book, complete all practice exercises, turn in 3 assigned exercises and take a quiz. There is a final exam at the end of the semester.
- New to Etudes: Here is an Online Orientation (Flash presentation opens in a new window) that will show you the basics of how to use Etudes. Here is a flash tutorial (Flash presentation opens in a new window) that demonstrates the log in protocol. Be sure to check System Requirements before getting started with Etudes. You need to do this on each computer you use while taking a class through Etudes.
