Spring 2010 English 225: Intro to Shakespeare

Course Description
This course is an introduction to Shakespeare's world. We will explore his life, works, culture, and Renaissance Europe during the 15th - 17th century. We will read a broad spectrum of his works which will include the tragedies, histories, comedies, and finally romances and poetry.
This course emphasizes mastery of plot, theme, character, style, setting, and technique through the plays, films, and documentaries.
Prerequisite: Must complete English 200 with a minimum grade of C.

- William Shakespeare - The Complete Works (approximate cost: $25.00) All readings will also be posted in the classroom to read online FREE

- Estimated Time per Week: Students can expect to spend approximately 8 to 12 hours per week reading, writing, and and participating in online class discussions.
- When to log in: Log into Etudes the first day of class (1/25). Read the announcement on the first page to get started.
- Additional Comments: The entire course will be conducted online through the Etudes program. Students are required to have Internet access, an active email account, the ability to use word processing, conduct Internet searches, attach files, send emails, and work independently.

Here is a flash tutorial (Flash presentation opens in a new window) that demonstrates the log in protocol. Be sure to check System Requirements before getting started with Etudes. You need to do this on each computer you use while taking a class through Etudes.
