BACKGROUND
As the college moved into the realm of
interactive distance learning and telecommunications, there
was a need to share information, resources and ideas among
interested parties.
PURPOSE
Provide an opportunity to share information,
perspectives and resources (both financial and community partnerships)
among faculty and staff with an interest in the field of interactive
distance learning. To help coordinate activities and initiatives
related to interactive distance learning.
TYPICAL ACTIONS/DECISIONS
- Provide progress reports on current
and developing projects.
- Hear reports on potential grant sources, partnership
opportunities and related project initiatives.
- Share ideas, insights and creative inspirations.
- Review Distance Education class

The content of Distance Education courses
are delivered using some form or forms of distance technology
such as television, videotape, audiotape, or the Internet.
For telecourses, no less than 11 hours of personal contact
between instructor and students shall be included through:
group or individual meetings; orientation and review
sessions; supplemental
in-person activities.
For on-line courses, instructor/student
contact may take place in a face to-face setting and/or
through e-mail or other electronic means. Student may
interact with each other through in-person study groups,
electronic message boards, or other means.
