Mentor / Teacher Program
Early Childhood
Mentor Program
Mendocino College participates in the California Early Childhood
Mentor Program. Selected Mentor Teachers are available to supervise
beginning students in sites throughout the college district.
Teachers
interested in becoming Mentor Teachers:
- meet the
qualifications for Master Teacher on the State Child Development
Permit Matrix.
- have two
years of experience including a lab class.
- have taken
the Supervision of Adults class.
Selection
is based on professional qualifications and a quality review of
the candidate's classroom.
Those who
are selected as Mentors are paid stipends for continuing in-service
training, and for the supervision of student teachers assigned
to the Mentors' classrooms. Those selected as Director Mentors
are paid stipends for guiding and offering practical help to less
experienced directors or site supervisors.
