Child Development
Permit
A Child Development
Permit is required to become a teacher in a child care center
or preschool in California. There is a career ladder of permits
requiring increasing amounts of college level training and increasing
days of experience.
Mendocino
College provides the 4 core courses (12 units) required by Title
22 and needed for the Associate Teacher Permit. The Mendocino
College Child Development Certificate of Achievement meets the
requirements for the Teacher Permit.
Additional
courses are available to enable teachers to specialize and obtain
a Master Teacher Permit. Three supervision courses meet the requirements
for Site Supervisor and Program Director. See the college
catalog for complete descriptions of courses, degrees, and
certificate programs.
Requirements
for the Child Development Permit and how to apply are available
at the Child Development Training Consortium site. The Consortium
will pay the processing fees for some Permit applicants.
